We’re excited to share news that the Association of American Literary Agents once again will organize a conference for agents, editors and publishing professionals. Please mark your calendar for the AALA People of Publishing Conference on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the New York Academy of Medicine.
The new name reflects a new direction. After two years of incubating the concept as part of the US Book Show, we are ready to make it fully our own, in keeping with AALA’s mission of professional development. (The US Book Show will continue separately under Publishers Weekly.) Unlike other industry events where the focus is on our books and authors, the AALA People of Publishing Conference is dedicated to us—enhancing our knowledge, skills, and capacity to adapt in an ever-changing landscape.
We can’t wait to unveil the line-up of speakers and topics, along with dynamic opportunities to connect with others throughout the day. Registration will be open to AALA members and non-member agents, editors and other staff in agencies and publishing houses and anyone who works in the business of books. We sold out weeks in advance last year thanks to agents representing every genre and publishers sending contingents of their staff. The conference will offer a unique chance to learn, connect and celebrate together. We hope you will join us.
