About the People of Publishing Conference

The AALA People of Publishing Conference is a premier gathering designed to bring together literary agents, editors, and publishing professionals for meaningful discussions, networking, and professional development. This event is sponsored and planned by the Association of American Literary Agents.

Unlike other industry events where the focus is on our books and authors, the AALA People of Publishing Conference is dedicated to us—enhancing our knowledge, skills, and capacity to adapt in an ever-changing landscape. Where else will you find sessions on holding auctions, managing submissions, and cultivating editor-agent relationships? We also are building dynamic opportunities throughout the day for you to network with others and make connections that last.

We expect a lively crowd again this year thanks to agents representing every genre and all five of the big houses as well as indies committed to sending contingents of their staff.

Registration is open to AALA members and non-member agents; editors and other staff in agencies and publishing houses; and anyone who works in the business of books. AALA members receive a discount.

While many wonderful writing events exist, this conference is not for authors and writers, as the focus is on the professional development of those working in book publishing to help them better serve their authors.
